Below are just some of the lovely places to visit within easy reach, do check availability of opening if you are thinking of visiting them.

Dunstable Downs just a couple of minutes mins by car, a superb view where you can see five counties, take some lovely walks, watch the gliders from the London Gliding club or just have coffee and lunch at the café.

 

Ivinghoe Beacon National Trust approx 10 mins drive towards Tring, super walks and view, ideal for picnic.

 

Rothschilds Natural History Museum at Tring approx 25 mins drive. A superb collection of animals and artefacts from the Rothschild collection, free entry and good coffee and snacks.

 

Ashridge Forest National Trust approx 10 mins drive (incorporating the famous Aldbury where many TV films have been made). Ideal for walking, coffee and lunch at the National Trust Centre.

Several canal/reservoir side pubs (Bulbourne/Marston) within 15mins drive where you can enjoy a good pub meal and walk along the canal or around the reservoirs. Or for the fishermen good fishing can be found.

 

Whipsnade Zoo and Wildlife Park  5 minute drive, to Kensworth and left through the village

Woodside Animal Park  10 min drive, to Markyate, at the A5 junction go straight across (dog leg) towards Slip End, Woodside Animal Park is half a mile, on the left.

Harry Potter World Warner Bros Studios approx 30mins drive, a wonderful day out for everyone 

Ascott House National Trust approx 20 mins drive, with beautiful gardens to have a lovely picnic and walk

 

Woburn Abbey and Safari Park  approx 30mins drive, enjoy the house and gardens or the exciting safari park or both!

Waddesdon Manor National Trust a superb house with gardens, walks and lots more. Approx 50mins drive through Aylesbury

Stowe House and Grounds National Trust approx 55mins drive, a magnificient house and landscaped grounds for a wonderful days outing and picnic lunch. Seen on Landscape Artist of the Year several times.
